Our take
Fine-mesh resin has smaller beads and more surface area, which helps with dissolved iron. This is the value route to an iron-capable softener.
The 50K size suits 3–4 bathroom homes on wells. Because iron counts as extra hardness when sizing, a family of four on 15 gpg water with 3 ppm iron needs noticeably more capacity than the same family on city water; run the calculator with your iron figure before choosing between this and the 70K version.
Clean the resin with an iron-removing cleaner on a schedule; fine-mesh resin helps with dissolved iron, but iron that oxidises inside the tank still coats the beads over time.
