Our take
The Serene Lite's appeal is its higher stated hardness limit for a salt-free system, plus a pre-filter in the box.
It is listed for municipal water only. Well water usually brings iron, manganese or sediment that coats TAC media, and Aquasure doesn't list it for wells.
The included pre-treatment stage handles sediment and chlorine before the conditioning media, which helps the media last. Budget for those cartridges as an ongoing cost. Like every salt-free unit, it won't change how hard your water tests, but it should reduce new scale on fixtures and in the water heater inside its stated limits.

How it compares on paper
- Against the A. O. Smith Salt-Free Scale Control: a higher rated flow (10* vs 7* gpm).
- Against the Water Boss Salt-Free Scale Control: a higher rated flow (10* vs 7 gpm).
- Against the Kind Water Systems E-3000: a lower rated flow (10* vs 15 gpm).

Does the Aquasure Serene Lite fit your water?
- Hardness: stated maximum 25 gpg (listing); above that, buy a salt-based softener.
- Iron: no iron limit stated; TAC media generally needs iron-free water.
- Flow: about 5 showers at once at its listed 10 gpm.
- Source: city water is the safe fit; wells usually carry iron or sediment that coats the media.
Alternatives to the Aquasure Serene Lite
- Watts Premier OneFlow Plus (#1): Widest maker-stated limits (up to 30 gpg, 10 gpm) plus a carbon stage.
- A. O. Smith Salt-Free Scale Control (#2): No cartridges, 6-year warranty; narrower limits.
- Kind Water Systems E-3000 (#3): Highest maker-rated flow and hardness limit; premium filtration combo.
- Water Boss Salt-Free Scale Control (#5): Same limits and flow as the A. O. Smith.
